1. Bracknell Forest: Which coronavirus tier am I in?

Bracknell News:

BRACKNELL Forest will face tier two coronavirus restrictions when lockdown ends.

This means the borough is at ‘high alert’ currently, but this could change again after two weeks.

The tougher new restrictions come despite latest data showing Bracknell Forest has an infection rate of 87.3 per 100,000 people in the past seven days — the lowest rate in all of Berkshire.

2. Gas boilers to be banned from new homes in Bracknell

Bracknell News:

Gas boilers will be banned in all newly built homes in Bracknell within three years.

The governments “green industrial revolution” will see gas boilers banned and all new homes fitted with ground and water heat pumps to help tackle climate change.

This will see around 1,000 per year in Bracknell by 2028 according to research by Bracknell HVAC contractor AirCon.co.uk.

Libby Jones, of Bracknell HVAC contractor AirCon.co.uk, spoke of the research and said: "Boris is really going for it, first cars, and now boilers – basically you are witnessing the phasing out of traditional gas boilers for new homes being built in Bracknell."

3. 'Abusive Nottingham knockers targeting residents across Berkshire, Thames Valley Police say

Bracknell News:

POLICE are warning residents across Bracknell Forest and Berkshire not to let anyone they don’t know into their homes after receiving a number of reports of ‘Nottingham Knockers'.

Officers from Thames Valley Police have warned local areas that they have been made aware of 'suspicious activity' from door knockers.

Several residents in Crowthorne have reported 'Nottingham Knockers' being "abusive and foul mouthed".

4. Bracknell: Fish and chip shop could replace dry cleaners

Bracknell News:

LARGE cod and mushy peas are on the menu as a Bracknell dry cleaners looks set to become a chippie.

Crystal Cleaners, based at Birch Hill Shopping Centre by Bracknell’s Aldi, could soon be no more with plans to convert the shop submitted earlier this month.

But regular dry cleaning customers should fear not as Crystal Cleaners will move to Great Hollands Square should these plans be given permission.

5. Bracknell woman jailed for stabbing man

Bracknell News:

A WOMAN who stabbed a man and "cut across his fingers" has been jailed for more than five years.

Alison Dean, aged 27, of Haversham Drive, Bracknell pleaded guilty to one count of perverting the course of justice and was found guilty by a unanimous jury of one count of section 18 grievous bodily harm following a trial at Reading Crown Court.

Dean was sentenced to five years and six months’ imprisonment on Tuesday (November 24).
