THE Prince Philip Trust Fund has donated £115,000 worth of contributions to Windsor and Maidenhead in 2020 - mostly to projects and charities helping people through the Covid-19 pandemic.

Over the last 40 years the fund has supported more than 1,600 good causes in the Royal Borough, giving away £2million.

Prince Philip has now handed over the chairmanship to Prince Edward, the Earl of Wessex.

The trust welcomed a new member at its final meeting of the year - retired businessman and veteran Rotarian Richard Kidson, taking over from Andrew Panter who died last year.

Mr Kidson is a past president of Windsor and Eton Rotary Club and worked with the Trust Fund on such joint fundraising events as the Jaguar Car Rally held on the Long Walk in Windsor.

He had a successful career running a design and architectural consultancy in London.
