A quick thinking fire victim grabbed a garden hose to halt an airing cupboard blaze yesterday evening.
Firefighters were called to the blaze in Paget Drive, Maidenhead at around 6pm and three pumps were used as they put out the fire which caused serious smoke and heat damage to the first floor of the house.
Firefighters were there an hour and a half.

It is believed the fire was caused by an electrical fault. The smoke alarm alerted the family who were able to get to safety with their pets.
But one occupant grabbed the garden hose and fought the fire.
Firefighter James Bennewith said: "That is not something we would recommend but in this case quick, decisive action minimised the damage and stopped the fire being much worse."
