A FURTHER 650 positive Covid-19 cases have been reported in Berkshire in the past 24 hours.

Public Health England has recorded these lab-confirmed cases in the past day in areas including Reading, Bracknell, Wokingham, West Berkshire, Slough and Windsor and Maidenhead.

These figures, correct as Tuesday, December 22, bring the county's lab-confirmed positive Covid-19 tests total to 21,462, according to Public Health England.

The local breakdown for the past 24 hours as follows:

Bracknell - 101 cases, 2,503 total

Wokingham - 123 cases, 3,339 total

West Berkshire - 77 cases, 2,563 total

Slough - 113 cases, 5,662 total

Windsor and Maidenhead - 114 cases, 3,325 total

Reading - 122 cases, 4,097 total

The latest seven-day rate per 100,000 people locally are as follows:

Bracknell - 400.7

Wokingham - 308

West Berkshire - 290.3

Slough - 533

Windsor and Maidenhead - 276

Reading - 404.9

There have now been 2,110,314 cases of Covid-19 across the UK – as of Tuesday, December 22, at 4pm. This was an increase of 33, 364 cases in the past 24 hours.

In today's national coronavirus news:

The Government said a further 691 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Tuesday, bringing the UK total to 68,307.

Separate figures published by the UK’s statistics agencies for deaths where Covid-19 has been mentioned on the death certificate, together with additional data on deaths that have occurred in recent days, show there have now been 84,000 deaths involving Covid-19 in the UK.

It said that, as of 9am on Tuesday, there had been a further 36,804 lab-confirmed cases of coronavirus in the UK.

It brings the total number of cases in the UK to 2,110,314.
