Slough Borough Council is issuing advice to 'locked down' residents following a cold weather alert from the Met Office.

A level three alert has been issued indicating there is a 90 per cent probability of severe cold weather, icy conditions or snow, between today and 9am on Monday morning.

As well as the prolonged period of low temperatures there could be icy patches on untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths. Motorists, cyclists and pedestrians are reminded to take extra care.

The council is advising people to keep homes at at least 18°C (65°F) with the main living area slightly warmer, as they stay inside under lockdown rules.

This is particularly important for people over 65 or with pre-existing medical conditions.

The recommended temperature for rooms where infants sleep is between 16 to 20°C (61 to 68F).
