MORE rapid covid testing hubs and mobile sites are set to go live in Slough from next week, the council has announced.

A new community testing hub will open at the Langley College Sports Hall on Langley Road from January 19 (Tuesday) onwards – and residents can start booking an appointment now.

The first two mobile sites are:

  • The Britwell Centre, Wentworth Avenue, Monday 18 to Wednesday 20 January from 10am to 6pm
  • The Hindu Temple, Keel Drive, Thursday 21 to Saturday 23 January from 10am to 6pm

Both are taking bookings for 15-minute slots.

Mobile sites coming on stream later in the programme schedule will not be able to be booked until nearer the time.

The hub and mobile sites are for those who are asymptomatic. People administer the tests themselves and results are sent by text or email in under an hour.

Those under 12 years-old or anyone still in the 10-day isolation period after being in contact with someone who is Covid positive cannot be tested.

However, when the isolation period is over people can go over to the centre for a test.

Councillor Natasa Pantelic, lead member for health and wellbeing, said: “The full mass testing programme has now begun and I would encourage residents to take up the offer of these free tests.

“For those who test negative it can give peace of mind; as though people still have to stick to the lockdown rules they will know, at least for now, they aren’t passing it on to their family.

“For those who test positive, it means they can take immediate action to protect themselves and their loved ones by isolating and ensuring they are no longer spreading it to others.

“No one wants to be in a position where they are accidentally spreading what can be a deadly illness to other people – this is your chance to make sure you are not.”
