Inspiring daughters Nyla and Maya have shown how important it is to appreciate your loved ones during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The girls from Bracknell decided to turn their Christmas tree into a 'thank you' tree for NHS and key workers.

Located in Rowan Drive, Crowthorne, anyone is welcome to decorate it with their tributes and messages of thanks to the key workers.

Nyla, who is five-years-old said she wanted to thank all of the key workers who work hard like her dad.

She said: "Our thank you tree is giving thank yous for all the key workers who have been working super super hard, like my daddy, and the doctors and nurses who make people better."

Her sister Maya, who is eight, added: "We had a Christmas tree out the front at Christmas time which everyone really liked so we thought maybe we could put it out by the pavement and we decorated it with rainbows and thanks yous to the people still out working like our teachers, and we wrote a few messages used craft for decorations.

"The key workers mean a lot to me - I have one reason for that, one because my daddy is a key worker - and all the key workers are working really hard."

Some residents have already dropped of decorations to add to the tree.

Mum Jessica said: "Local poet Laureate Clare Bevan dropped off a thank you card and some poems for the girls so they’re really pleased people are looking at it!

"I just wanted to say thank you to the NHS and key workers for their hard work they’re doing to try and stop coronavirus."
