The borough of Slough is officially the worst place to drive in Britain - according to a new report published by vehicle leasing specialists AllCarLeasing.

The average speed on A roads is an incredibly slow 16.4 MPH.

But this is not surprising as there are 1,697 cars on the road per every 1,000 people, with annual road casualties standing at 330 during 2019.

The borough scores well when it comes to the maintenance of roads though, with only five per cent needing work at any one time.

The survey breaks the country down into local authority regions.

Derby comes off second worst with average speeds of 20.3 MPH and casualties of 581 in 2019. Car ownership is 552 per 1,000 head of population.

Surprisingly Birmingham which comes off third worse has a higher average speed than Slough at 18.3 MPH although car ownership is lower at just 672 cars per 1,000 members of the population.
