Two teenagers are in a serious condition in hospital following a crash yesterday afternoon. 

A boy and a girl, both 15-years-old, were taken to hospital on Sunday, January 24, following a crash on the A33 in Reading.

At about 1.15pm a crash happened between the junction of Lindisfarne Way and Island Road.

Thames Valley Police officers in a marked vehicle made an attempt to stop a scrambler-type motorcycle.

The motorcycle was then involved in a crash with a black Alfa Romeo car on the A33, resulting in serious injuries to the motorcycle rider and pillion passenger.

Both teenagers suffered serious injuries as a result of the crash and their next of kin have been informed.

They remain in hospital in a serious but stable condition. No arrests have been made.

Thames Valley Police also said a mandatory referral has been made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct IOPC, who investigate the most serious and sensitive incidents and allegations involving the police, as a result of the crash yesterday.

Senior Investigating officer, Sergeant Ed Crofts of the Roads Policing Unit, said: “I am seeking any witnesses to the collision who may have been travelling on the A33 and have any dash-camera footage of the incident.

“I am also seeking any witnesses who may have seen the motorcycle prior to the collision on Lindisfarne Way or in the vicinity of Kennet Island during the early afternoon.
