One of Bracknell's much loved pubs has seen a new family take the reigns leaving us eager to take a look at what life has been like inside the gaff in recent years.

The Prince of Wales Pub and Thai Restaurant in Bracknell has been run by James and his wife Lucy, for the last three-and-a-half years.

The Greene King pub, of which James and Lucy were tenants, also runs an authentic Thai restaurant which has had fantastic reviews within the Bracknell community.

This month, landlords James and Lucy decided to step away from their roles and let the Thai restaurant owners take over.

With beaming reviews of its delicious food and friendly atmosphere, Mr Graves said he has no doubt the new landlords will do a fantastic job.

He said: “The Thai restaurant has done so well and the chef is incredible. He is very special and we're massively happy they're taking the pub on.”

But perhaps one of the pub's biggest achievements in its lifetime was it's whopping £130,000 refurbishment.

Bracknell News:

The refurb was based around making the pub a more family-friendly establishment and a place for the community to enjoy.

In 2017, the pub closed its doors in the summer of June for a three-week work period to give it a new lease of life.

When they opened their doors again a month later, punters returned to see a brand new bar and sports fans could enjoy live Sky Sports on four TV screens.

The revamp appeared popular with the first drinkers through the doors as they filled the bar to capacity on Friday evening.

Bracknell News:

Fast-forward to now and the pub has managed to cope and adapt with what Covid-19 had to bring.

Speaking to the News after James and Lucy made their announcement, he said: "Covid was a small factor and being closed in the first lockdown was hard. My biggest problem is that I felt most pubs were COVID safe and the precautions in place were much safer than supermarkets, but we kept getting closed down all the time or put under very tight restrictions."

During the Tier 2 restrictions, the pub ensured they could deliver their delicious Thai food and pub grub to locals.

And when the pubs managed to open once restrictions were lifted in the summer, punters were advised to ensure sanitise their hands and order drinks from dedicated service points at the bar.

Currently, like all pubs across the UK, the Prince of Wales and Thai Restaurant remains closed but you can still order their delicious food for takeaway only.
