MORE THAN 50 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in Berkshire in the last 24 hours, the latest data shows.

Public Health England has recorded 55 new lab-confirmed cases in the past 24 hours, in areas including Reading, Bracknell, Wokingham, West Berkshire, Slough and Windsor and Maidenhead.

These figures, correct as of Saturday, March 27 at 5pm, bring the latest total for the county to 55,441.

The local breakdown for the past 24 hours as follows:

Reading - 8 cases, 10,746 total

Bracknell Forest - 3 cases, 6,966 total

Wokingham - 5 cases, 8,100 total

West Berkshire - 8 cases, 6,274 total

Slough - 22 cases, 15,061 total

Windsor and Maidenhead - 9 cases, 8,294 total

There have now been 4,329,180 people across the UK who have tested positive for Covid-19.

The latest seven-day rate per 100,000 people locally are as follows:

Bracknell Forest - 32.6 (Compared to 38.4 on March 12)

Wokingham - 32.1 (Compared to 33.9 on March 12)

Reading - 48.2 (Compared to 33.4 on March 12)

West Berkshire - 31.6 (Compared to 26.5 on March 12)

Slough - 73.6 (Compared to 83.6 on March 12)

Windsor and Maidenhead - 59.4 (Compared to 51.5 on March 12)

The latest daily total of coronavirus cases reported in the UK is now at a daily increase of 4,715.

Government data up to March 26 shows that of the 33,020,952 jabs given in the UK so far, 29,727,435 were first doses – a rise of 411,305 on the previous day.

Some 3,293,517 were second doses, an increase of 283,654.
