40 people in Berkshire have tested positive for Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, the latest figures show.
Public Health England has recorded 40 new lab-confirmed cases in the past 24 hours, in areas including Reading, Bracknell, Wokingham, West Berkshire, Slough and Windsor and Maidenhead.
These figures, correct as of Saturday, April 3 at 4pm, bring the latest total for the county to 55,153 cases.

The local breakdown for the past 24 hours as follows:
- Bracknell Forest - 3 cases, 7,014 total
- Wokingham - 4 cases, 8,145 total
- Reading - 8 cases, 10,779 total
- West Berkshire - 2 cases, 6,306 total
- Slough - 16 cases, 15,180 total
- Windsor and Maidenhead - 7 cases, 8,358 total
There have now been 4,357,091 across the UK who have tested positive for Covid-19 - a daily increase of 3,423.
The latest seven-day rate per 100,000 people locally are as follows:
- Bracknell Forest - 36.7
- Wokingham - 33.3
- West Berkshire - 25.9
- Slough - 84.3
- Reading - 34
- Windsor and Maidenhead - 57.5
Another 10 people in the UK have died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Saturday, bringing the UK total to 126,826.

Vaccinations
A total of 30,791,767 Covid-19 vaccinations took place in England between December 8 and April 2, according to NHS England data, including first and second doses, which is a rise of 284,035 on the previous day.
South East: 4,358,030 first dose and 689,187 second doses (5,047,217)

Prime Minister Boris Johnson said: “We’ve reached another milestone in our vaccination programme with over five million people now having had their second jab.
“I urge everyone to take up their second dose as soon as they are offered it.”
The evidence is shifting towards a causal link between rare blood clots and the Oxford/AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine, according to an expert.
The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) said it had identified 30 cases of rare blood clot events out of 18.1 million doses of the jab administered up to and including March 24.
There have been seven deaths among the 30 cases.
