In the design and access statement, the applicant said: “The site in our opinion is being wholly underutilised and the land is not being used efficiently, given the location and proximity to the main road.

“Furthermore, the surrounding residential properties are all orientated and organised in a way which allows them direct access from the main road. The proposal seeks to open up the site and make it much more accessible and useable.”

Slough planning officers have yet to decide on the application.

On-site parking for 14 cars would be provided and grassed areas, which would provide outdoor amenity space, would also be provided within the site.

Change of use from a betting shop to a takeaway and eat in at Baylis Parade, Slough (P/00024/005).

Planning officers refused plans for the old William Hill betting shop could be transformed into a takeaway as developers tried to improve footfall around the parade during the pandemic.

In the design and access statement, the applicant stated: “The use proposed will not upset the balance of the uses on this parade, and it will bring new business to this parade, as well as help footfall onto the high street, by bringing on an established branded takeaway.”

However, planning officers blocked their plans over concerns the location of the kitchen flume would have an ‘unacceptable impact’ to the neighbouring residential property in terms of cooking odour and fumes.
