The county is home to many famous faces that have dominated the music charts list, blockbuster films and television screens. 

Some of these people have played at the highest level possible in football, have starred in blockbusters, and have achieved several number ones in the charts.

Here are some of the singers and musicians who live in Berkshire and you may be surprised by who is residing in the county.

Will Young

Slough Observer:

Singer Will Young found fame after winning the 2002 inaugural series of the ITV talent contest Pop Idol, making him the first winner of the worldwide Idol franchise.

He was born in 1979 in Wokingham and was brought up in Hungerford, West Berkshire.

Will Young was initially educated at Kingsbury Hill School in Wiltshire before attending Horris Hill Preparatory School, Newbury.

He later attended public boarding school Wellington College in Crowthorne.

Sarah Jory

Sarah Jory from Reading in Berkshire is the worlds number one female pedal steel guitarist.

Jory’s musical talents were quickly recognized and as she loved her parents’ country records, she began playing steel guitar since the age of five.

Natalie Imbruglia

Aussie and former neighbours star now reside in Windsor and she can sometimes be spotted around the town.

Elton John

Slough Observer:

Singer-songwriter and music legend Elton John lives in his home in Winsdor.

Elton and his husband David Furnish were married at Windsor Guildhall in 2014, having also had their civil partnership ceremony there in 2005.

Kate Bush

Slough Observer:

Best known for her song Wuthering Heights, Kate Bush owned a home in Theale, Reading.
