FRAUD by false representation -- that's what you get charged with when you use someone else's bank card to buy things.

And there's often a big penalty when you get caught out spending under a name that isn't yours.

Here's five people from Berkshire who were sentenced for spending using a bank card that didn't belong to them.

Anthony Wareham, of Birlington Road, was caught spending more than £130 on a bank card belonging to another man in Slough in May 2020.

The 40-year-old made six different transactions all on the same day last year.

He was told to pay a victim surcharge of £95 but no order was made for costs.

As well as this, he was given a community order which will involve him taking part in rehab activities.

Wareham appeared at Slough Magistrates Court in March 2021.

Jamie Andrews, of London Road, Reading, was also caught out using a card that didn’t belong to him in Reading in October 2019.

The 47-year-old made three separate transactions with the card, but it is not clear how much he spent.

He was handed a 12 week prison sentence for his fraudulent activities suspended for 18 months.

Andrews was also fined £29 for his spending, and was also told to pay £128 in a victim surcharge and to pay costs of £85.

He appeared at Reading Magistrates Court in January 2021.

Gary Ross, of no fixed above, was given a 20-week prison sentence for using the bank card of a woman in Slough between August and September 2019.

The 57-year-old was also fined £533 for his actions.

He appeared at Reading Magistrates Court in January 2021.

Dominic Dawkins, of Langley Road, Slough, was also handed a prison sentence for spending money on a card which didn’t belong to him.

The 44-year-old was caught out in Slough 2019 having spent £28 at Tesco Express, £29.99 at a BP garage, and more at a Nisa store.

He was given a six week jail sentence to run consecutively to another count of handling stolen goods.

The Slough man appeared at Reading Magistrates Court in March 2021.

Gemma Foxwell, of Swaledale, Bracknell, was given a community order for spending more than £50 with a bank card belonging to someone else in Slough in March 2020.

As well as this, she was told to pay a victim surcharge of £90 and costs of £150.

The 36-year-old was present at Reading Magistrates Court in March 2021.
