A MAN has been jailed after carrying out a "horrendous" attack on a woman leaving her with permanent scarring.

The attack happened just before 7.20pm on March 26, 2020 when Brandon Neal was walking in Worlds End Hill in Bracknell.

The 21-year-old of Berkshire Court, Bracknell started arguing with a woman, who was 24 at the time.

Neal smashed a bottle onto the woman's forehead, causing a 4cm gash down to her skull.

The victim’s partner then tackled Neal to the ground in self-defence, before Neal walked off.

Neal was arrested on the same day and charged via a postal requisition on September 14.

The attacker pleaded guilty to one count of Section 20 grievous bodily harm in a hearing at Reading Crown Court on April 13, 2021.

Investigating officer PC Jake-Jon Crowdey, based at Bracknell police station, said: “This was a horrendous attack on a member of the public who was not known to the defendant.

“The victim sustained life-changing injuries as a result of this incident and has permanent scarring on her head.

“I am pleased to see that a custodial sentence has been given, as this attack left the victim both physically and mentally scarred.

“The victim is pleased that justice has been done and she is now able to move on with her life.”

Brandon Neal was sentenced to two years and one month imprisonment.
