VIEWS are sought after by Bray film studios as they eye major expansion plans into the greenbelt.

The film studio, which is located at Down Place, Water Oakley, wants to become a “major international TV and film production company” which includes building five new sound stages, four workshops, and some offices.

Other plans include demolishing stage three, introducing new tree planting and landscaping, introducing a new roundabout on the access from the A308, and a green travel plan – which includes a cycle rack and electric charging points.

If approved, some of the works do require expanding into the green belt, but in a statement, the owners will “reduce” the harm as much as possible and add new landscaping and trees to the area.

They said: “We believe the enormous economic benefit to the local area and the region along with job creation both locally, regionally, and nationally significantly outweighs the harm to the Green Belt.”

It is said the expansion could bring thousands of new jobs and pump well over £100 million into both the local and national economy.

Temporary planning permission was granted to the film studio in 2020 a period of two years for this scheme but are now looking for permanent approval.

Things were looking bleak for Bray Studios and in 2012, the previous owner obtained planning permission to demolish the sound stages and redevelop it into housing.

However, the demand for filming later “rocketed” where the current owners decided to invest heavily into improving the studios and upgrading the site as a whole.

Before the scheme is formally submitted to the Royal Borough for a decision, the studio wants to hear the views from residents and local businesses on their plans before June 21.
