Two-thirds of people in Windsor and Maidenhead have received two doses of a Covid-19 vaccine, figures reveal.

NHS data shows 79,142 people had received both jabs by June 27 – 66% of those aged 16 and over, based on population estimates for mid-2019 from the Office for National Statistics.

Of those to have received both jabs, 77,406 were aged 25 and over – 72% of the age group.

It means 1,736 people aged between 16 to 24 have received both doses.

Meanwhile, 105,589 people in Windsor and Maidenhead have received at least one dose of a vaccine – 87% of those aged 16 and over.

The NHS vaccine data also reveals variation in coverage for residents who are fully vaccinated between different areas across Windsor and Maidenhead.

Areas with the highest coverage:

1) Cookham and Waltham, with 75.5% of people aged 16 and over fully vaccinated.

2) Bray Wick and Holyport, 72.5%

3) Cox Green, 71.3%

Areas with the lowest coverage:

1) Maidenhead Central, 53.7%

2) Windsor Town and Eton, 55.7%

3) Boyn Hill and Norreys Drive, 60%

Across England, 27.3 million people had received a second dose of the jab by June 27 – 60% of the population aged over 16 and over.

That includes 26.4 million people aged 25 and over – 67% of the age group.

In total, 37.1 million people had received at least one dose of a vaccine by the same date, covering 82% of people over 16.

Despite the success of the rollout, some staff at care homes in Windsor and Maidenhead have not been vaccinated.

The figures show 1,350 out of 1,634 eligible staff, including agency workers, at older adult care homes had received a first dose by June 27 – meaning 17% have not had a jab.

The Government plans to make the jab mandatory for staff over concerns for residents.
