DOUBLE jabbed passengers will be able to visit countries on the government's amber list without entering quarantine on their return.

The possibility of a sunny summer getaway has suddenly opened up for millions of people, with Secretary of State for Transport, Grant Shapps announcing that those who’ve had both vaccine doses will not have to self-isolate when returning from amber list countries.

From July 19, double-vaccined UK travellers can forgo the previous 10-day quarantine rule, although they will still be required to take a Covid-19 test three days before returning.

The decision to ease the quarantine requirements for amber list countries would mean popular holiday destinations such as France, Greece, Italy and mainland Spain can be visited by British holidaymakers – although some may impose restrictions on visitors from the UK.

Parmjit Dhanda, Executive Director of Back Heathrow said: “Heathrow is crucial to the livelihoods of local people and it’s also the country’s most important port, contributing over £6 billion to the UK economy. Global Britain needs a vibrant Heathrow if it is to create the growth and jobs to get people back to work, locally and nationally.

"The next step needs to be a safe opening up of important business routes to places like the US.”

The next update of the amber list will be on July 15 and there is a lot of speculation surrounding which countries will remain or be added.

Residents looking for cheap and easy flights to Spain are in luck as British Airways fly to Alicante from Heathrow Airport with a single flight costing as little as £91.

Other destinations accessible via Heathrow currently on the amber list include Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Central African Republic and more.
