A SLOUGH man is set to go under the microscope in a court trial after he was charged with stealing more than £100,000 from a hotel chain.

Nitin Gupta, of Eden Close, Slough, is accused of taking £100,139.27 belonging to Macdonald Hotels.

The 41-year-old faces charges of theft and false accounting at the Macdonald Berystede Hotel in Ascot from January 2018 to November 2019.

He is also alleged to have deposited £19,650 into the bank accounts of a woman and her children.

Gupta has not entered a plea to any of these charges.

The Slough man appeared at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, July 21 for a hearing.

Here, the case was sent to Reading Crown Court for trial.

The trial is expected to start on August 24, 2021, but this is subject to change.

Until then, Gupta has been given a number of requirements, such as:

  • Not being allowed to close his bank accounts
  • Not being allowed to leave the country
  • To surrender his passport to the police
  • To not make contact with anyone employed at Macdonald Berystede Hotel

The Macdonald Berystede Hotel is on Bagshot Road in Sunninghill, Ascot, and is a 'luxury' 4-star hotel. 

Rooms start from £178 a night.
