COVID infection rates have fallen in every area of Berkshire in the last seven days.

Cases have started to drop again for the fourth consecutive day, with some areas seeing a drop of nearly 50 per cent.

The week-on-week trend was down everywhere across the conurbation in the seven days ending July 25, according to the latest data from Public Health England.

In Bracknell Forest, the number of cases per 100,000 people fell by 46.4 per cent compared to the seven day period before.

Other areas like Reading and Wokingham saw cases per 100,000 people fall by 14 per cent compared to the last seven days.

Factors such as the school holidays, vaccine roll-out are thought to have contributed to the drop in infection rates.

The most up-to-date hospital data for the week ending July 25, showed a total of 48 patients were admitted to Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust hospitals with Covid-19.

This hospital trust covers Wexham Park Hospital, Frimley Park and Heatherwood Hospital.

Bracknell Forest

The trend is down in Bracknell, where there were 290 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending July 25, which is 316 fewer than the previous seven days.

That is down by 46.4 per cent compared to the previous week.

The latest infection rate in Bracknell Forest is 331.3 cases per 100,000 people, which is under the national average.

Reading

In Reading, the latest infection rate is 302.3 cases per 100,000 people and the number of cases has gone down by 20 per cent.

A total of 350 people tested positive for Covid in Reading over the seven days ending on July 25.

Slough

Slough, which has the lowest infection rate in the county, recorded 291 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending July 25, which is 97 fewer than the previous seven days.

The coronavirus infection rate in Slough is now 249.4 cases per 100,000 people and is down by 14.4 per cent week-on-week.

Wokingham

Wokingham is an area where the trend is down. The latest infection rate here is 327.8 cases per 100,000 people.

There were 250 cases recorded in Wokingham, which is 491 fewer than the previous week - a fall of 12.8 per cent.

West Berkshire

West Berkshire recorded 385 coronavirus cases, which is 246 fewer than in the previous seven days.

The latest infection rate in West Berkshire is 279 cases per 100,000 people.

Winsdor and Maidenhead

In the Royal Borough, there were 403 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending July 25, which is 236 fewer than the previous seven days.

Windsor and Maidenhead also has one of the lowest infection rate in the county.

The infection rate is down slightly compared with the previous day and the week-on-week trend is down by 25 per cent.
