SHOPPING centre offices will be converted into flats - this is just one of the many planning applications submitted or determined by Slough Borough Council or the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead.

Change of use from offices to 37 flats at Nicholson’s House, Nicholson’s Walk, Maidenhead (21/01701/CLASSO).

The community mental health team and memory clinic offices located above the Nicholson’s Shopping Centre will be converted into new flats as Royal Borough planning officers grant planning permission.

The apartments comprise four studio, 14 one-beds, and 19 two-bedroom apartments.

In terms of parking, 85 spaces are already available that were for the office employees. However, the developers will reduce that number to 28 spaces for future occupiers.

The parking spaces will be located in the multistorey car park for the Nicholson’s Walk shopping centre, accessed from Broadway via a ramp as per the existing arrangements.

Secure sheltered cycle parking will be provided for the residents in the existing basement of the building. In total, 56 cycle spaces will be provided.

Construction of 17 flats in two blocks at 157 Chalvey Grove and 149 - 157 Chalvey Grove, Slough (P/12642/004).

Developers wanted to erect two apartment buildings, consisting of 16 two-bedroom flats and one studio with 19 parking spaces and cycle storage.

Refuse storage and rear garden area was planned at the site, which has been most recently used as a motor repair workshop.

However, the developers have since withdrawn the application with no reason as to why on the planning portal.

Seven residents from neighbouring Sydenham Gardens objected to the scheme citing their concerns about traffic and the loss of two visitor parking spaces.

One resident wrote: “Losing two visitors car parking spaces will leave the place more congested as it is already congested during the weekends. If we need the use the visitor’s car park space especially on weekends or bank holidays what would the alternative arrangements?

“Vehicular access through Sydenham Gardens and the new 19 car park spaces which means more traffic at the entrance of the flat which already quite narrow for one car to enter at a time. This arrangement leaves the Sydenham Gardens entrance and the parking area less safe.”
