Buckinghamshire Council have apologised after claiming that HS2 vehicles had damaged a Denham road.

The council have claimed that vehicles being used by contractors had damaged Moorfield Road in Denham.

They have since retracted this claim and clarified their position.

HS2 has stated today that: "Their pre-condition surveys dating back to 2018 clearly identified the poor quality of the carriageway prior to any mainworks being undertaken at this location.

Buckinghamshire Council apologised for claiming that HS2's vehicles had caused the damage.

To safely carry out repair work, HS2 contractors will close the road overnight in two phases.

The first phase of resurfacing began on Monday (August 16) and will be completed by August 23. 

The road will be closed from 9pm to 5am overnight whilst they strip and resurface the damaged road.

From September 13 to September 16, the road will be closed overnight for install anti-skid loops to be installed.

During both phases of work, the road will be opened daily between 6am and 9pm. 

Traffic will be diverted between Denham to Harefield via Harvil Road, Swakeleys Road, A40 Western Avenue/ Oxford Road and A412 Denham Avenue/Orbital Way.

During the road closures, access will be maintained for residents and emergency services.
