SOME areas across Berkshire have seen a week-on-week rise in Covid rates with concerns over a new variant which “could be more infectious” than any other so far.

Figures from Public Health England released on Sunday, August 30, show the number of people who have tested positive for Covid-19 in either a lab-reported or rapid lateral flow test, by specimen date.

In total, 335 coronavirus cases have been reported across Berkshire on August 30, the latest available data.

Since the start of the pandemic, 83,365 cases have been recorded in the county as of August 29.

The rate is expressed as the number of new cases per 100,000 people.
