A FRANCHISED cafe offering ‘desi style street food’  is coming to Slough after officers approve plans.

Developers were given the go-ahead to convert the Chiltern Hills estate agency, which is on 241 Farnham Road, into a Karak Chaii.

The café, which has stores in Birmingham and is expanding nationally, offers urban desi style street foods as well as fresh coffee, tea, all-day breakfast, cake, and biscuits all around the world.

It will open from 8am to 11:30pm seven days a week. Four full-time and two part-time staff will be employed.

The internal layout of the soon-to-be café will be altered on the ground floor to convert it into a coffee shop and serve the large Slough community.

Only on-road parking is provided but the site is near public transport links with bus services operating on Farnham Road.

The developers say this will help “regenerate” the vacant building and help “inject” money back into the community by providing new jobs and providing “healthy” breakfasts, snacks, and fresh coffee and teas.

In the design and access statement, it states: “The proposed coffee shop will provide a family-friendly dining experience with seating areas, providing healthy breakfast, teas and coffee’s from around the world, something which is limited in the area and would be very successful.”

It adds: “The changes to the existing building would be very successful in this vicinity which will only add as a positive project to help bring up the surrounding area. We feel that all the requirements have been met and give a positive result to this proposal.”
