“TOTALLY unsatisfactory” maintenance of grass in graveyards and other areas has prompted a leading councillor to apologise.
Overgrown grass and weeds have plagued parts of Windsor and Maidenhead for several weeks, prompting anger from residents.
With the problem persisting, councillors have called for the contractors, Tivoli Group Limited, to be scrutinised at an upcoming overview and scrutiny panel.

This has led to the council’s cabinet member for environmental services, councillor David Coppinger (Con: Bray), apologising to everyone affected at a Maidenhead Town Forum on Monday, September 6.
He called the contractor’s performance “unacceptable” and “totally unsatisfactory”.
Cllr Coppinger said: “There are some common factors affecting many such operations across the country this year.

“A complete reversal of our climate this year, severe reduction in the labour pool, and inability to get spares.
“Whatever, the performance has not been acceptable, and I apologise to every single resident affected, especially where the problem has been in our cemeteries and other areas of remembrance.”
The lead member also said he won’t be taking any questions or comments as the contract was going to be scrutinised in October.
