INDIA, Poland, Moldova…

These were some of the countries where Berkshire residents flew back from and failed to self-isolate.

Since April, seven locals have been fined for failing to stay away from others.

Here are the names, their fines and where they flew back from.

Anatolie Gheorghita, of Old Bracknell Close, Bracknell, was fined £1,760 after travelling back from Moldova in February 2021 and failing to self-isolate.

Court documents indicate the 37-year-old was caught leaving his house.

The Bracknell man was sentenced at Oxford Magistrates’ Court on August 20, where they were also told to pay £205 in a victim surcharge.

Artur Kunkiel, of Warwick Drive, Newbury, came back from Poland on October 27, 2020.

He was fined £1,200 after turning up at his work address (DMS Fabrications in Thatcham).

This was a breach of the 14-day self-isolation period he was meant to serve.

35-year-old Kunkiel was also sentenced at Oxford Magistrates’ Court earlier this year.

Surjit Singh, of Blumfield Crescent, Slough, failed to self-isolate having returned from India in January 21.

He admitted to police that he had left his home address during his ten-day isolation period.

Appearing at Oxford Magistrates’ Court (OMC) on August 6, the 43-year-old was told to pay £1,380 in fines and court fees.

Nadia Hussain, of Bath Road, Slough, was reported absent from her home address shortly after returning from Pakistan in November 2020.

But the 40-year-old’s fine was smaller than others who failed to self-isolate at £800.

The 40-year-old was told to pay an extra £170 in court fees at OMC in April 2021.

Ali Waris was hit with a larger fine in the same month having also failed to quarantine after coming home from Pakistan.

The 30-year-old, of Salt Way, Slough, was fined £1,760 and told to pay extra court fees of £266 earlier this year.

This came after they were reported absent from their home address in November 2020.

Jason Carty, 37, of Reddington Drive, Slough, returned to England from France in February 2021 but did not ‘stay inside’ during his required self-isolation period.

He was fined £1,760 and ordered to pay £266 in extra court fees at OMC on August 27, 2021.

Lakhwinder Singh, 47, of Shackleton Road, Slough, was handed a £320 fine for arriving in England from a non-exempt country and failing to self-isolate.

The 47-year-old was in India before returning home in December 2020.

Court documents indicate Singh broke his quarantine by turning up for work.

He was also told to pay £119 in court fees at OMC in April 2021.
