A WOMAN has been jailed after racking up £8k of debt in a vulnerable man’s name while dragging him to hotels and blackmailing him.

Emma Blackman, of Farnham Road in Slough, met her autistic victim on a dating site in 2017 before fleecing him during a 15-day crime spree.

The 28-year-old came to Herts Police’s attention after they received reports of blackmail in Watford, which eventually exposed the scale of her crimes.

The victim, aged in his 20s, was manipulated, blackmailed and threatened between October 17 and October 31.

He was taken away from his family and stayed in hotels nationwide – including Watford – where Blackman forced him to take out a 48-month phone contract at £87 per month before selling it.

She also repeatedly used his bank cards, used threats against his family if he failed to comply and told him she was pregnant with his child.

During their brief encounter she used the alias name Chloe Smith and at one stage kept the victim in a hotel room in Winchester against his will.

Her crime spree eventually ended when she was arrested for an unrelated burglary by the British Transport Police on October 31, 2017.

The extent of her crimes only emerged after the victim returned to his family.

DC Jon Holmes said Blackman used “emotional and psychological abuse” while blackmailing the victim to take out multiple phone contracts and loans.

“This experience has left the man traumatised,” he continued.

“His mother, in her evidence, said that Blackman’s behaviour was very odd and she was suspicious when her son was taken to Winchester with Blackman without her knowledge.

“When interviewed about her crimes, Blackman smiled showing absolutely no remorse.

“I hope this time behind bars serves to help her see the impact of her actions and prevent her offending in the future.”

Blackman was sentenced on Friday, September 10, to a total of five years’ prison.

She was also sentenced for a burglary in Maidstone, harassment, blackmail, fraud, and two burglaries in Taunton.
