A CHEF in Maidenhead has been named as one of the best in making curries at the prestigious Curry Life awards.

The chef at the Fat Buddha in Bridge Street felt "thrilled" to have been awarded 'Best Chef' at this year's Curry Awards staged by the Curry Magazine at London's Royal Lancaster Hotel.

The Curry Life awards celebrate the unique fusion cuisine of Indian food in the UK.

It is the first time the restaurant has entered the annual awards and owner Mofozul Miah could not be more pleased with the recognition.

Chef Jafor Solim Uddin from Maidenhead was among others named as the best curry chef in Britain.

The restaurant said: "We are still so thrilled about winning BEST CHEF at the Curry Life Awards.

"Thank you to the whole team and of course our amazing chef. We are absolutely thrilled."

CBE Lord Karan Bilimoria, President of the CBI and Chairman of Cobra Beer, said: "Like many business sectors over the past couple of years, the hospitality industry has been through the ringer because of the Covid pandemic.

Now that the economy is gathering momentum, it is truly heart-warming and instructive to hear of some of the stories of innovation, and pure hard work, emerging from this year's Curry Life Awards.
