For Slough nostalgia this week, we are looking back at some photos that were taken from the yesteryear within the town.
One of the photos that caught our eye was this image a single-decker closed omnibus, with the driver and two other men, and a gentleman boarding at the rear.
The vehicle was making its way through Slough towards Beaconsfield in March 1904.
The car was inbetween Slough and Beaconsfield in March 1904.
Her Royal Highness, Queen Elizabeth II, met the town councillors with Cllr Abbott the Mayor making the introductions in June 1953 – 14 months after she became the Queen of England.

Here is an image of a civil defence exercise, with a number of men in full gas-protection suits being watched by officers in an unknown area in 1939, but, it has been alleged that this was in Slough.

A year earlier in 1938, the mayor of the town was seen planting a tree to commemorate the awarding of the Borough Charter, which was watched by a large crowd in September of that year.

That same year saw the Duke of Kent inspecting the Bucks Territorial Army at Iver in July, and finally, here is a photo of a water feature of the tree-lined long drive leading up to Cliveden House, Cookham.
