“I WAS shocked to see the amount of weapons [he] had in his vehicle”.

That’s what a police officer said about a man spared jail despite being caught with blades, a baton and a knuckleduster at a leisure centre car park earlier this year.

Luke Tran, of Evergreen Way, Hillingdon, was confronted by police on patrol at Windsor Leisure Centre Car park on June 11 of this year after officers spotted cannabis in his possession.

After being searched, they found a large amount of cannabis in a nearby vehicle as well as weapons including blades, an extendable baton and a knuckleduster.

He was charged with seven counts of possession of a weapon in a public place on October 9 and sentenced at Reading Crown Court on Friday, December 3.

Here, 30-year-old Tran received a three month prison sentence suspended for two years.

He was ordered to take part in 25 rehabilitation activity days.

Investigating officer, PC Luke Jenkins, based at Maidenhead police station, said: “I was shocked to see the amount of weapons Tran had in his vehicle.

“I am glad that they have been taken off the street and there is no risk of them being used to do violence or threaten harm.

“Tackling knife crime remains one of Thames Valley Police’s priorities and our officers will work ceaselessly to stamp it out. I hope that this sends a message to others that carrying knives in public will not be tolerated in the Thames Valley.”
