Applicant Hutchinson 3G UK Ltd had its plans to install a 20 metre-high monopole supporting six antennas and four equipment cabinets approved by Slough planning officers.
The network operator is currently rolling out its 5G mast to provide stronger connections for households to use. The developer has had a few developments approved in neighbouring Windsor and Maidenhead and is waiting for officers to decide a mast in the Slough trading estate.
The location has been identified as being necessary for Hutchinson’s business development and meets its specific technical and operational requirements.
The identification of this location followed pre-application with the council’s planning department.
Developer withdraws plans again to demolish buildings for new homes at Green Meadow Surgery and Knightswood, Winkfield Road, Ascot (21/02445/FULL).
Fresh plans to redevelop the existing doctor’s surgery and detached house, outbuildings, and car park into erect two five-bed detached houses fronting Winkfield Road, two four-bed detached houses fronting the Avenue, and two pairs of four-bed semi-detached houses fronting Ronald Court have been withdrawn again.
In an email to the council, Amy Brontë Littlejohns, senior planner at planning consultants Maddox Planning, said applicant Step Places wanted to withdraw the plans and has asked for the officer’s report to assist in revising the scheme.
Previously, the applicant reduced the number of homes from 11 to nine and added sufficient parking and amenity space in the scheme following pre-application talks.
But they withdrew their plans in April 2021 after objectors wanted the plans to be refused on the grounds some of the homes will block natural sunlight into their houses, the loss of privacy, and the site being overdeveloped, creating a ‘cramped’ development.
Objectors have said the revised scheme looked “remarkably similar” to the previous plans and the modifications “don’t go far enough”.
