A WARNING has been issued by police after a man hacked into a girls’ Instagram account and disclosed private sexual photos.

Thames Valley Police has issued a warning after a Windsor resident had her social media account blocked by a hacker.

Police said the girl received a message from a man with intimate photos of her asking for £300.

She refused to pay the man and her account was blocked.

Jeffrey Pick, Police, Community Engagement & Resilience Officer for Windsor & Maidenhead, said: "The man must have changed her password. She has no idea where the man obtained the photos, but if she does not pay, he will send them to all he contacts. If she pays, he will return control of the Instagram account to her."

He warned residents not to store any explicit photos or videos as they are at 'risk of being hacked'.

Adding: "The moral of this story is – all photos / videos / emails / texts / messages / strings stored in your phone / hard drive, are always at risk of being hacked !

"So the advice is as always – do not photograph, video, say, write, text, record anything on your phone / computer hard drive, you would not be happy for your family, friends, neighbours, work colleagues, employer to see. Anything stored on your devices – can be hacked!"
