The eery and abandoned Magnet Leisure Centre has been revealed in YouTube footage shot by urban explorers.

Cheeky Charlies, swimming pool slides and disco halls which have attracted millions of visitors to Maidenhead since 1974 lie abandoned and empty after the decision by Countryside Properties to shut the facility for good in 2020.

The 29 minute-long video, posted on the Lost Adventures 14.5K subscribers channel, the youtuber is impressed with how large the place is.

One of the pair, whose identity remains unknown, says: “It's pretty wild. It would have been well cool here. I like being in places where you know it should be really really noisy but its super quiet."

The pair were able to get through the doors into the main pool and go on to focus their camera on different areas of the dark and gloomy centre before exploring its inner workings and pumps – and climbing the stairs to the top of the flumes and pool slides.

The disused changing rooms, toilets and sports halls all feature later on – and were descibed as 'really smelly'.

Jo Collins said: "I grew up in this leisure centre and it’s so sad to see it like this now." 

Another commenter said: "I wish I hadn't watched this. In my mind it was still pristine and the way I used it for 30 years. Must have done 100,000 lengths of that pool."
