TWO rotary clubs in Windsor raised more than £4,000 to go towards helping Ukraine refugees.

Windsor and Eton Rotary Club and Windsor St George Rotary Club took to the streets on Saturday, March 5 and turned to the community to show their support.

The money will be sent to the Rotary Club of Suceava Cetate, in Romania, as it is located in one of the hotspots of the Ukrainian migration crisis not far from Romanian Asylum Centre, Radauti.

He said: “On behalf of both Windsor’s Rotary clubs, huge thanks to everyone who put their hands in their pockets in town today to donate money towards helping Ukrainian refugees. Mr Davies explained all the money raised will go towards helping those refugees fleeing their homeland.

President of Windsor and Eton Rotary Club Adrian Benge said: “I would like to thank everyone who braved the cold yesterday to do our street collection, in Windsor Yards and Peascod Street, for the Ukrainian Refugees.”

“The first person to donate was a little old lady who had a job to walk but donated £100 on her credit card,” Mr Benge said.

“I did query the amount but she said she had been to her bank the day before and wanted them to send £100 but she was told they were not doing this at the moment.

“Well done to all that took part yesterday and thank you from the bottom of my heart, it was a very successful day, thank you again.”
