A man has been jailed for six years after being convicted of grievous bodily harm and being in possession of a knife in a public place.

Following a police investigation, Daniel Radu (20) of Tobermory Close in Slough was found guilty on January 28.

He returned to Reading Crown Court yesterday, March 23, where he received the sentence for both offences.

The incident occurred shortly after midnight on August 8 last year in the Deco Bar and Lounge on Slough High Street.

It started between the victim, his two friends and two of Radu’s associates and soon spilled out onto the road where it became physical.

After being made aware of the fight, Radu approached the victim from behind and made jabbing movements causing lacerations to the victims back.

The victim’s injuries were serious and soon required surgery for the four deep cuts.

Radu was arrested later on 8 August and was subsequently charged on 10 August.

Case investigator Rina Sahota, based at Slough police station, said: “This was a serious knife crime, but thankfully, due to the expertise of medical professionals, the victim did not sustain any long-lasting injuries.

“However, the level of violence used was completely unacceptable and this case goes to show that the criminal justice system takes knife crime extremely seriously.

“The sentence is a reflection of this, and I hope will serve as a warning to others, if you carry or use a knife, we will pursue you, arrest you and put you before the courts where you belong.

“Radu now has a significant term of imprisonment to reflect upon his actions.”
