STAYCATIONS have become popular for holidaymakers after travelling abroad was put on hold due to the pandemic.
According to comparethemarket.com, Windsor and Maidenhead was crowned as the top destinations for family breaks.
This comes down to the amount of activities there are for families to do including museums, Windsor Castle, Legoland, entertainment opportunities and healthcare facilities.

Searches for 'family breaks UK' have increased by more than 175 per cent in the last 12 months, according to a recent study.
And in second place is Cornwall, which has a total of 142 beaches making it the perfect place to surf for families who love the sea.
Also in the top ten is St Albans, Cambridge, Stirling, Hastings, Winchester, Isle of Wight, Oxford and Warwick.
Alex Hasty, director at comparethemarket.com, said it’s important to have the right insurance in place for those planning a family trip.

He said: “Even if you’re not travelling abroad, it’s still just as important to take out travel insurance.
“This will help keep you and your family covered in case of unforeseen circumstances such as losing your items or them being stolen to give a peace of mind while you’re away from home.”
