A DRUNK Slough police officer asked colleagues if soiling himself would get him jailed quicker after he handed himself in for assault.

PC Luke Doyle, who quit Thames Valley Police in September 2021, was found guilty of gross misconduct at a force hearing last week.

Bosses at TVP came to the conclusion he would have been sacked had he not already resigned.

This decision was reached in relation to an incident on June 26, 2021, when the officer and his partner were at home together.

They had both drunk alcohol and PC Doyle allegedly became jealous when his partner spoke with another male.

The officer and his partner went up to their bedroom and when she tried to leave the room, he allegedly prevented her from doing so and pushed her on the bed, causing her to have an anxiety attack.

She left the premises and PC Doyle allegedly followed her and refused to leave her alone when he was asked to do so.

After convincing her to talk to him, PC Doyle allegedly said he would kill himself if they split up.

His partner told him she was leaving and he is claimed to have said: “OK well that’s it then, I’m going to top myself.”

As she got into her car he allegedly kicked the vehicle and was heard shouting profanities at her that disturbed sleeping neighbours.

She said: “Please leave me alone, I’m trying to get away from you.”

PC Doyle allegedly grabbed her again to try and stop her leaving, which made the woman cry.

A quarter-of-an-hour after midnight on June 27, PC Doyle rang Thames Valley Police and reported he had committed common assault.

A second call was made to police around 90 minutes later from a person who said PC Doyle was threatening to kill himself.

Officers were deployed to find PC Doyle, and when they did, he was abusive towards them.

He asked whether if he ‘p***** or s*** himself’ would get him into custody quicker, according to the misconduct panel’s evidence.

In another interaction with officers around a fortnight later, on July 6, 2021, he told officers to ‘**** off’.

He resigned in September 2021.

Following a discussion between Thames Valley Police’s misconduct panel, force bosses found PC Doyle’s behaviour was fuelled by ‘excessive intake of alcohol’.

It was also found that PC Doyle’s actions caused his partner mental harm and that his behaviour caused harm to public confidence in police.

He was found guilty of gross misconduct in relation to his behaviour towards his partner, and misconduct in relation to his behaviour towards his police officer colleagues.

The misconduct panel’s report concluded: “Had the officer still be a serving officer he would have been dismissed.”

They made their decision on March 31.
