SAINSBURY’S announced its Slough store will be closing at the end of this month.

The supermarket, on Farnham Road, will shut to customers based on “a range of factors”, according to a Sainsbury's spokesperson.

We asked our readers if they would be sad to see it go and here’s what they said.

Jane West said: “Great the only shop with customers toilets, great if you have a potty training child.”

Julia Vose also said she was sad to see the store closing.

She responded: “Yes, very convenient for the route to and from work and a compact store where you don’t need to walk a mile to pick up a couple of bits.

“I will not be travelling in the opposite direction to shop at a larger version.”

But some readers wondered which shop could be replacing it.

And a few readers said they heard the popular supermarket chain Aldi was rumoured to be moving in with Jessica Folkes responding with: “I really hope so.”

Naima Ibrahim added she hopes it’s either an Aldi or Home Bargains.

Matthew Taylor also shared his thoughts explaining he was “very disappointed” at the Sainsbury’s closure.

He said: “I go there a couple of times most weeks because of the convenience of its location.

“It is always fairly busy when I’ve been, so I’m not clear quite why it is being closed.”

When speaking to the Slough Observer, the Sainsbury’s spokesperson didn’t explain the reason for the closure and said these decisions are “never taken lightly”.

The closest Sainsbury’s stores will now be in Taplow and Uxbridge Road Superstore.
