AN ANNUAL charity walk in Slough was held over the weekend to raise money for worthy causes.

The Rotary Club of Slough hosted its Slough Together Walk on Saturday, April 30 from the third Upton Scout Hut next to the car park in Upton Court Park.

The route explored areas around Slough going through the park, over the recently completed new M4 Bridge and taking in the Jubilee River, Windsor, Eton and back into the Park.

The charity walk saw supporters of small charities register for a small fee and take part to raise money for that organization.

Over the 14 years the rotary club has held the walk, the team have always added different things to enhance the day.

This year the group worked with Slough Swipe Music Project, which held a steel drum workshop with tutors to encourage people to try their hand at playing the drums and create some music throughout the day.

The Slough CVS team also joined families on the day with their Covid vaccination tent giving advice on people getting their jab.

MP Tan Dhesi, who took part with his wife Manveen and children, praised the Rotary Club team for their “incredible efforts” in hosting the walk.

He said: “Lots of money was raised for worth charitable causes and yes, we finished the full six miles and have the certificates to prove it.”

Richard Mingard, committee chair of Slough Together Walk, said: “It was great to have our MP Tan Dhesi and his family walking again this year and also the Mayor of Slough, Councillor Mohammed Nazir, who was kind enough to officially open the walk and take part for the second time with some of his council colleagues.

“It was a great day with fine weather and it was very good to see people having the confidence to venture out and meet people again with smiles on their faces.

“We are very grateful to all our supporters and especially our sponsors Grundon Waste Management and Kidd Rapinet Solicitors.”
