1. Boy, 15, accused of murder after Trelawney Avenue stabbing appears in court

Slough Observer:

A PROVISIONAL trial date has been set for a 15-year-old Slough boy charged with murder.

The accused boy was charged after 18-year-old Abdul Aziz Faiz Ansari was stabbed to death on Trelawney Avenue in Langley on May 5, 2022.

A post-mortem examination concluded Abdul’s cause of death as a stab wound to the chest.

The 15-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was charged with murder and possession of an offensive weapon on May 9.

2. Five Guys one step closer to opening in town

Slough Observer:

A FAST food restaurant is one step closer to opening its doors in Windsor.

The America burger chain, Five Guys, will welcome customers to its new branch in Windsor Royal Station very soon.

And it appears to be making good progress as all the signage is now on display at the unit.

The popular restaurant offers a selection of juicy burgers that come with plenty of different toppings.

3. Neighbour has "serious safety concerns" of former Slough mayor's home extension

Slough Observer:

A NEIGHBOUR has “serious safety concerns” about a former Slough mayor’s illegal rear verandah.

Last month, the Local Democracy Reporting Service reported former Labour councillor Avtar Cheema was told to remove an unauthorised single-storey extension to the rear of her property on 40 Dawley Ride.

The planning enforcement notice also told her and her husband Jit Singh Cheema to cease the use of a ground floor side extension, which is used as a self-contained residential accommodation.

4. The Ivy reveals opening date for new Windsor restaurant

Slough Observer:

DRUM rolls and a right royal fanfare coupled the big reveal of the official restaurant opening date for The Ivy Windsor.

The Observer can exclusively reveal that The Ivy will be opening its new brasserie on Tuesday, May 31.

For many weeks, locals and tourists alike have been eager to hear more on the new restaurant opening after posters went up in the High Street windows earlier this year.

In the past week, The Ivy teased online the venue would be 'opening soon' and now has revealed its plans to open just in time for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

5. Council bails out of 60 care homes plan - but will still pay 'unavoidable costs'

Slough Observer:

SLOUGH Council is having to bail out of a project to build specialist care homes in order to reduce its gargantuan borrowing debt.

Plans to build 60 extra care home facilities on a plot of land just north of the Scottish and Southern Electricity Depot and between Chalvey High Street and Alexandra Road were cancelled last year. Plans to build a GP surgery are still going ahead.

This also involved leasing the land for 40 years with income from residents to cover the construction and lease rental costs.
