Reading FC have announced that interim manager Paul Ince has signed a contract to make his position permanent ahead of the 2022/2023 campaign.

Ince arrived in February 2022 and guided the Royals away from danger in the relegation zone, keeping the club in the Championship with three matches to spare.

Assistant manager Alex Rae is also to remain in RG2 ahead of next season.

Chief Executive Dayong Pang said, “Paul and Alex were brought into Bearwood to instil confidence, structure, spirit and determination into a first team squad which in difficult circumstances had lost its way early in the year. And ultimately, he had to produce almost immediate results.

“Fourteen points from their first ten games proved enough to keep the club in the Championship and I am delighted that Paul and Alex have accepted the challenge to take this club forward.”

The former Manchester United and England midfielder will now oversee the rebuild ahead of the new campagin starting in July.
