MORE than 50 street parties have been planned across the Royal Borough to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Residents will be holding parties in their communities, including Ascot, Cookham, Windsor, Holyport, Maidenhead, and more, over the four-day Bank Holiday weekend to mark the Queen’s 70 years on the throne.

The council opened up applications for almost two months for locals to apply to hold street parties on the public highway where temporary road closures will be made. Legal fees for the road closures have been paid by the council.

Party organiser Rachael Luke said: “We’re all proud to live in Windsor and it’s part of our history. Many of the residents attended and have shared great memories of the last Jubilee street party and we’ve even been shown a picture of the original Coronation street party in Bourne Avenue, so it’s only right that we continue the tradition.”

Adam Garrett and Jayne Milburn have organised a street party in Cookham’s High Street on Sunday, June 5.
