A CHARITY is on the hunt for a permanent home as it continues to help hundreds of individuals each month.

The Baby Bank, founded in 2015, supports families in need across Slough, the Royal Borough and Buckinghamshire.

Set up by Windsor mums, Rebecca Mistry and Cllr Amy Tisi, who is now a trustee, the charity is currently run on a weekly basis by Rebecca and Lauren Hall.

Since starting up, The Baby Bank has supported more than 16,000 individuals with much-needed items including clothes and essential equipment for babies, toddlers and teenagers.

This year, it has already assisted 1,367 people with items and since 2020 the number of individuals the charity has helped has doubled.

After moving out of their previous site in March, the pair have set up camp at a temporary unit on Howarth Road, in Maidenhead.

But they’re now seeking a new place to store all their donations to keep supporting those in need.

“The charity mainly relies on donations and fundraising events organised by the community,” Rebecca said.

“Just last month we supported more than 300 individuals and we’ve already seen an increase in referrals come to us since the cost of living went up and the demand will continue to rise.”

Lauren said: “The support we have had from the community is phenomenal.

“Sometimes we feel overwhelmed by their generosity and the amount some people donate to us.”

Lauren added the ideal location for them to move to would be around 2,000 square feet and be in Maidenhead.

“It would be great to have the space to be able to have our groups of volunteers help us on a daily basis,” Lauren said.

“We want to be in a better space where we can feel proud to have people come in and see us and maybe even have a cup of tea which we can’t do at the moment.”

The charity needs to find a new place by August, when it will have to move out of its current site.

The Baby Bank always accepts donations and doesn’t take anything that is broken, stained, damaged or has parts missing.

It also doesn’t take any of the following if they have been used: mattresses, car seats, potties, toilet seats, breast pumps or cot bumpers.
