STUDENTS doing their Duke of Edinburgh Award and a home care company spread a little joy this month with a random act of kindness.

Three local teenagers and staff at Home Instead Windsor, Runnymede and West Spelthorne created small, surprise gifts across the area in the hope to brighten people’s day.

Organised by Home Instead’s community engagement coordinator Sam Parsons, the packages included sunflower sees, spring flower nail art stickets and a note explaining what the gift of sunflower represent.

Owner of Home Instead Anitra Camargo said: “Sunflowers are a great analogy for what we aim to do at Home Instead.

“They bring happiness, hope and help. They are strong and enduring, standing tall.”

Ms Camargo added they grow in numbers for strength and to support each other.

“This perfectly sums up what we do at Home Instead, with our dedicated care professionals bringing joy and support to our elderly clients,” she added.

“We hope all who found their spring surprise get much enjoyment from planting, nurturing and watching their seeds grow into beautiful, strong sunflowers.”

Residents were also asked to share photos of the sunflowers they grow and for each post money will be donated to Battersea Old Windsor and Runnemede Carers Dementia Support.
