THE latest cabinet re-shuffle sees two councillors promoted to leading roles while a serving member leaves to chair planning.
Cllr Zaffar Ajaib (Lab: Langley St Mary’s) is now part of Slough council leader James Swindlehurst’s (Lab: Cippenham Green) executive team and has taken the portfolio of customer services, procurement, and performance.
He previously served as cabinet member for urban renewal under the previous council leader’s regime in 2017.

Cllr Mohammed Nazir (Lab: Baylis & Stoke) was also promoted after stepping down as mayor to take responsibility for transport and the local environment from deputy leader Pavitar K. Mann (Lab: Britwell & Northborough), who is cabinet member for housing and planning.
Cllr Nazir was previously cabinet member for housing and community safety before taking the reins as mayor last year.
Cllr Swindlehurst said: “I have a team on the cabinet that represents the main faith and ethnic communities, remains gender balanced, contains experienced members all of whom have had previous experience in the cabinet and in setting budgets, so I think we have a strong cabinet continuing to go forward and to deal with the challenges that we face.”
