A WEATHER warning for 'heavy rain and lightning' is in place for across the county tomorrow.

The Platinum Jubilee weekend would not be in keeping with British tradition if a bit of rain didn't join for the celebrations.

The Met Office this morning has issued the weather warning for thunderstorms from midnight tonight (June 3).

It says: "While many places will stay dry, thunderstorms will bring heavy rain and lightning to some places early on Saturday."

The warning continues to say there is a small chance homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, along with potential damage from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail, or strong winds.

It is in place until 10am.

Weekend weather:

Dry for most of Friday, May 3, with a 50 per cent chance of rain at 3pm. The sun is expected to make an appearance alongside the clouds from 7pm to 9pm. Temperatures will reach 21C.

Saturday will bring with it rain and thunderstorms from 5am through to 10am, then remain cloudy for the rest of the day. Temperatures predicted to reach 19C.

The final day of the long BH weekend is also expected to bring rain with it for most the day. Forecasts currently predicting rain from 7am throughout the day, and temperature highs of 16C.
