PLANS to demolish some old garages in High Wycombe for family homes have been approved.

Bucks Council has permitted a planning application by Red Kite Community Housing that will see some unused garages behind houses 5 to 21 Quebec Road bulldozed in favour of six new homes.

There will also be 13 parking spaces and 17 bicycle bays.

This is a resubmission of a previous application which was refused because the council said that particular scheme failed on biodiversity.

“This submission is now accompanied by a fully updated Ecological Assessment and updated Biodiversity Impact Assessment (BIA),” a planning statement reads.

The housing association also initially wanted to build seven new houses but reduced it to six after planning officers said it could be overdevelopment.

It is understood the garages fell out of use in January 2020.

Bucks Free Press:

The homes will be metres away from the park near The Roperies and the access, off Quebec Road, will be retained.

One neighbour said they are worried the proposed bin store could overspill into their garden creating mess and smell, and even rats.

Mrs Jacqueline Mcbarnett on The Roperies said: “I realise that your proposed plans for the six dwellings include a bin store which would be directly in line with my rear garden. I am very worried that the overspill of rubbish could end up in my garden also in the summer the smell from the bins would mean I wouldn’t be able to use my garden. And that this said bin area could cause rats.”
