A GALA concert in Windsor turned out to be a success as a church marked its 200th anniversary.

Windsor Parish Church, on St Alban's Street, held a celebratory gala concert on June 25 to end a week of special events.

The Royal Free Singers teamed up with the choirs of New Windsor Team Ministry and St. George's School, Ascot, to entertain the audience with a range of songs.

Reverend Sally Lodge cut the anniversary cake, made by Jill Newby, one of the choir members, and everyone enjoyed refreshments after the concert in the church grounds.

Reverend Canon Sally Lodge, team rector, Benefice of New Windsor, said: "It was a wonderful joy-filled concert which was a very fitting part of the 200th anniversary celebrations of Windsor Parish Church."

Ben Gunner, music director of Royal Free Singers added: "The Royal Free Singers has a long, close association with the Parish Church, where we perform regularly, and it was a pleasure to bring together our own choir with the New Windsor Team Ministry and the choir of St. George's School, Ascot for this special occasion."
