Police have extended their powers in Slough for another 24 hours after numerous violent incidences and an arrest.

After a stabbing near Court Farm Close, the force announced an extension to their powers on June 30 where they have a right to search people without reasonable grounds.

This section 60 order was put in place originally for 24 hours to reduce the chances of further serious violence.

Police will therefore be able to put in force the Stop and Search order in a defined area of Slough where the most violent incidents and stabbing took place.

Over the past 24 hours, one man was arrested under Police and Criminal Evidence (PACE) powers, for possession of a knuckle duster and driving offences, he remains in custody at this time.

However, this arrest was not connected to the incidents that led to the Section 60 being put in place but occurred in the Section 60 area during patrols.

Chief Inspector Ash Smith, Deputy LPA Commander for Slough, said: "We are extending the Section 60 order this evening in order to provide ongoing reassurance to the community.

“Our officers will continue to patrol and there will be an increase presence in order to provide ongoing reassurance to the public.

“Our officers will continue to engage with the public and we would encourage the public to raise any concerns they have to our officers or through 101.”
